St Nicholas Memorial Window Re-dedication

March 17 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

11am ST NICHOLAS MEMORIAL WINDOW RE-DEDICATION during COMMON WORSHIP with Holy Communion @ St Nicholas Church, Itchenor

St Nicholas Memorial Window Re-dedication

We are delighted to let you know that the beautiful stained glass leaded window has now been fully restored and reset in its repaired 15th Century lancet frames. At the 11am traditional service with Holy Communion on Sunday 17th March the window will be re dedicated and all are welcome to come and see the window in its new glory.

The PCC would like to thank the many donors whose contributions made the work possible.

The window is an important feature on the south side of our Grade I Listed church and is a World War 2 memorial window dedicated to the memory of Sub Lt A Malise Angus Graham RNVR. He died on 22nd January 1943 at the age of 24 whilst serving in the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve and was ‘Mentioned in Dispatches’. He was lost on night patrol on board HMS St Angelo in the Mediterranean.

The artist involved in the manufacture of this memorial in stained glass was Joseph Edward Nuttgens. Born in 1892, he attended Central School of Art c1910. He studied under many well respected stained & painted glass artists: Karl Parsons, Alfred Drury, Mary Lowndes, Martin Travers and Herbert Hendrie. He also designed for Whitefriars Glass Studio in 1945.
