Collect for Palm Sunday

True and humble king,

hailed by the crowd as Messiah:

grant us the faith to know you and love you,

that we may be found beside you

on the way of the cross,

which is the path of glory.

Amen

HANDEL’S MESSIAH PERFORMANCE PALM SUNDAY 2 APRIL FROM 4pm to 5pm IN ST JAMES CHURCH EVERYONE WELCOME

Handel’s Messiah is one of the great choral works of the Baroque era written in three weeks and set to words from the Bible. Written in 1741 it features the famous Hallelujah chorus which audiences still stand up for as did King George II on hearing the very first performance. The performance will last for one hour; it will include spoken text read by Robin Merrifield and soloist performances from the University of Chichester Conservatoire accompanied by our organist Ian Stearn.

There will be a retiring collection for the work of Harbour Churches in our communities.
