The Chatter Project (at the St James Centre)

The St James Centre welcomes Chichester Festival Theatre’s Chatter Project to Birdham. If you are aged 65+ you can join the Chatter Project this summer. Be part of a series of creative workshops where memories come to life and stories unfold. The Chatter Project is free to join. We will run six workshops on Tuesdays from 11am to 12.30pm. The workshops will take place on Tuesday 16 & 30 April, and Tuesday 14 & 28 May, and Tuesday 11 & 25 June.

Next Steps support group (at the St James Community Centre)

Next Steps support group (at the St James Community Centre). Meets on Monday afternoons from 3pm to 4.30pm, gather in the Pump Café. A weekly facilitated group for anyone who has lost someone close or who is caring for someone with illness or dementia. Gather at 3pm in the Pump Café at the St James Centre. Light refreshments will be served, it is not necessary to attend every group, please do come along. Facilitated by Eric Eyre and Jane Oundjian.

Ducklings parents carers & baby toddler play group (at the St James Community Centre)

Ducklings parents carers & baby toddler play group (at the St James Community Centre). Meets on Tuesday mornings term-times from 8.45am to 10.15am. Gather in the St James Centre hallway to sign in. A parents/carers baby and toddler group. Enjoy the chance to meet local parents/carers. Harbour Churches has a lovely play room and safe play area on the ground floor of the St James Community Centre.

Amblers village walk social group (at the St James Community Centre)

Amblers village walk social group at the St James Community Centre. Join Amblers on Thursdays from 10am to 12 noon, meet in the Pump Café before setting off. Amblers is a social group based around a short walk in Birdham or neighbouring villages followed by coffee and chat. If you have mobility issues you’re welcome to coffee. Meet in the Pump Café before setting off. We set off just after 10am.

Our last workshop on Tuesday 26 March will be a celebration of the Chatter Project where we will host neighbouring Chatter Project groups in the St James Centre – it will be lively! Stitch Club (at the St James Community Centre)

Stitch Club, meets every Thursday from 2.30pm to 4pm. Everyone is welcome to our social club, no skills are necessary; we do knitting, crochet, patchwork, mending, tapestry etc. We have been asked to stitch or knit little hearts by a local funeral company because they offer them to bereaved folk as a source of comfort.

Thursday Pump Café (at the St James Community Centre)

Thursday Pump Café at the St James Community Centre. Drop in for a cuppa and a natter, beverages & biscuits are available. Walk with Amblers or rest with other visitors. The located Pump Café is on the ground floor of the St James Community Centre. Two gender neutral toilets are available, one of which has disability and baby changing access. Dogs are welcome, parking is available behind the community centre in Church Lane.
